I was looking to come up with a really easy marinade that was similar to my Marinated Skirt Steak recipe, but with no sugar, and even less ingredients, if that was even possible. This multi-purpose marinade does the trick, and so far, I have used it in burgers, on steak, and with roasts. Good every time!
1/4 cup coconut aminos (if not watching wheat or soy, subbing soy sauce is fine!)
1 tablespoon minced onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl; since the minced onions are dry, I allow them to soak up the moisture for a few minutes before use. Raw onions, you can skip this step.
Pour into a gallon or quart sized baggie, add meat, and massage marinade into the meat. Marinade meat for at least an hour, but up to overnight.
If using for burgers, simply add marinade to ground meat once combined, and work the liquid into the meat before forming into patties.
Grill or cook meat thoroughly to medium, or to your desired level of doneness.
